Church of God World Missions (Zambia) existed for about 30 years as the Full Gospel Church of God (Zambia). In 1983 it was re-registered as, Church of God in the Republic of Zambia. The parent church in the USA was formally organized as a denomination in 1886, making it one of the oldest Pentecostal churches in the World. Church of God World Missions (Zambia) is part of the Church of God General Assembly and and consists of 55,000 members served by +500 ministers in about 550 churches. In the middle of the Corona virus global pandemic is the least likely time-frame for large projects, but where a spirit of generosity exists, any time is giving time for Sowers!
YWEA (Youth World Evangelism Action) is the ministry that allows the youth and children of the Church of God the opportunity to fulfill the discipleship challenge of the Great Commission. Church of God World Missions Zambia is grateful for the YWEA renovation of the Berea Worship Center Church (Send the Light Project). The work is going on swiftly and this project stands to benefit the Church and Berea Theological University College next door. They have agreed to share the boardroom. A million thanks to YWEA! |
Berea Theological University CollegeThis university campus is authorized by the Education Department of the Church of God in the USA to offer degree-level programs. The three programs proposed for local authorization by the Higher Education Authority of Zambia are; BA Ministry Leadership, BA in Chaplaincy, and BA Theology.
Under its President (VC), Dr. Scott Rains, the college vision has grown to continental coverage to cater for the training of many ministers seeking degree-level training in Africa. Church of God institutions are open to students from like-minded denominations. HOW IS THE CHURCH ORGANIZED? There is a National Council composed of Ordained Bishops who assist the Admin. Bishop in between sittings of the Bishops' Council. This body of men ensures that wise decisions are being made in the best interest of the national church as a whole. There are ten provinces in Zambia and Provincial Overseers ensure that the work of the Church in the provinces does not suffer. The provincial council is composed of District Overseers and other senior church officers. The leader of all Church of God Pastors in a district is called a District Overseer. Church of God World Missions Zambia has 27 Departmental Directors in charge of National departments. These leaders take off some of the weight on the shoulders of the National Overseer (who is supervised by the Regional Superintendent). The picture left, is a portrait of Bishop Charles Karangwa the area Superintendent over North and South Central Africa. He is a Ugandan citizen and a truly humble servant of God in his service. He supervises the National Overseers of the countries under his authority, including, Bishop J. Ndashe. |
